UTI-RGESS (UTI Rajiv Gandhi Equity Saving Scheme)
The investment amount eligible for the purpose of deduction under UTI-RGESS as per the section 80 CCG of the Income Tax Act, 1961 is limited to Rs. 50000.00. The benefit is available to the ‘New Retail Investors’ whose gross total annual income is less than or equal to Rs.10 Lakhs and having a Demat account which satisfies the conditions detailed in the notification dated 23rd Nov 2012 of Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India. For example, If a person invests Rs 50000 the amount eligible for exemption from taxable income would be Rs 25000.00. Also, if a person invests more than Rs 50000.00, even then the amount eligible for exemption from taxable income would be limited to Rs 25000.00.
